We are social creatures, connected to everyone around us and influenced by the behaviour of the people we encounter. But we sometimes become too focused on our own problems and difficulties and this is where our connection to other people can help. If we move our attention from our own problems to the problems of others and try to help others in their difficulties, this change of focus often helps us to resolve our own challenges. At the very least, this change in perspective helps to put our problems into a broader context, helping us to move beyond the limitations of our circumstances whilst developing a sense of empowerment. If we can help others, we can help ourselves, and this positive reinforcement gives us the confidence to overcome our difficulties and move on to fresh opportunities.
