Initially I trained in the field of Corporate Psychology and Management gaining a PhD and spent most of my time delivering Motivational Training in a corporate environment. After 25 years I entered the fascinating field of Spinal Rehabilitation training as a Spinal Rehab Specialist, obtaining certification and endorsement as a Pilates and Yoga Master as well as a Corporate Wellbeing Coach.

I developed a strong desire to help people enhance the quality of their lives whilst still a student at university. In those distant and often difficult days I discovered that I had a particular affinity with those in need of emotional support, recognizing the potential that people had to lift themselves beyond their apparent limitations. This became a focus for my life and has grown into a daily mission as I work with people from every walk of life.

Stress is a dominant feature of our lives so I am privileged to advise government officials, political leaders, CEOs of multinational corporations, psychologists, peak performance athletes, medical professionals, senior management teams, teachers and parents. The list is truly comprehensive. What all these people have in common is their humanity and a powerful need to experience the power of their potential for happiness and self-expression.

My personal journey to wellbeing began during a commercial career that lasted for more than twenty-five years. Part of the work involved studies in human behaviour and exploring methods for enhancing personal motivation. I learned how early conditioning and the environment can shape so many of our choices and, ultimately, this led me to examine why so many people were living lives that simply failed to express their true potential for happiness. Life tends to feel so much more worthwhile when you feel that you are making a difference.

In 2005 I decided to move away from a high profile career as a corporate director and shareholder in the field of management and take the necessary steps to realize my own potential.

This direction provided the motivation for me to seek ways to help people in the most meaningful way possible. I embarked on a voyage of intense study, research and discovery, focusing on the link between mind and body and so I started at the beginning and learned about the architecture of the human body. Practical studies involved years of work and practice until I’d obtained my Masters Certification in Rehabilitation Pilates with the Core Body Academy. Pilates revealed the importance of good posture and I studied the methods of releasing and relieving pain, specializing principally in spinal rehabilitation.

To further my studies in spinal rehab I first went to the USA to learn even more about the Pilates Elders and was fortunate to study with the late Julian Littleford. A pioneer in developing Pilates from a body conditioning method available only to an elite few to a pathway to better health and fitness that was accessible to everyone. I was privileged to learn from him!

Having studied and practised a variety of mindful meditation techniques, I decided that I really needed to grasp the full yoga medical rehabilitation syllabus and set off to India with my wife to study the fundamentals and underlying principles of yoga and ayurvedic medicine.

Yoga therapy, derived from the Yoga tradition of Patanjali and the Ayurvedic system of health care, refers to the complete integration of the elements that constitute balanced and sustainable health and well being. I was fortunate to study yoga therapy with a yoga doctor who had a full knowledge of Ayurvedic medicine and had been a disciple of the Bihar school of yoga medicine. He followed the principles of Sri Swami Sivananda Saraswati who, out of his love for humanity, was inspired to create the first Yoga Institute when he established the Yoga Vedanta Forest Academy in Rishikesh.

Yoga therapy is essentially the application of Yoga techniques and practices to help individuals with health problems to manage their condition, reduce symptoms, restore balance, increase vitality, and improve attitude. The therapy is particularly appropriate for many chronic conditions that persist despite conventional medical treatment.

As I took my leave from my personal mentors and teachers, I asked them how I could ever repay their gifts of knowledge and timeless experience. They smiled and told me to pass on the benefits to everyone I met, to make the practices a natural part of my life, so that the techniques would no longer be something that I did but an integral part of who I am. I will always be grateful for their immeasurable generosity.

Back in Europe, I spent time with two outstanding spinal rehab educational systems. The first was based at the Pilates Institute founded by Michael King and designed by an orthopedic surgeon in London. After completing this course I was inspired to seek more advanced levels of rehabilitation techniques and was very fortunate to spend time with Dr. Peter Spurek, a world famous orthopedic surgeon in Spain whose methods I greatly admire and incorporate in my practise today.

I am also grateful for my studies of the pioneering work of Dr. Alexander Lowen, who recognized the connection between posture and psychological health, a brilliant psychologist who dedicated his life to the development of more effective therapies for treating mental illness and inspired a generation of doctors, therapists and mental health specialists.

Fortunately, the learning process never ends and we are fortunate to live in a world of extraordinary research and enquiry into the human condition. This is a potent source of inspiration to develop a deeper understanding of how to help people more effectively and restore them to the best possible mental and physical health. That has been my motivation and the reason for me to share the work with as many people as possible.

I have four books in preparation, focusing on important aspects and methods of personal and professional transformation. The insights and techniques are based on my personal commercial experiences with multi-national corporations and the many individuals who are responsible for running international businesses, companies and institutions. Helping people to make their lives so much more enjoyable, successful, worthwhile and fulfilling is both my mission and my motivation. It’s a powerful way to share the gifts that my teachers shared with me.
